Tanu Weds Manu', which will see the fresh pairing of Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan, was initially titled 'Manu Weds Tanu' but the name was changed at the lead actress' behest.

Director Anand Rai felt 'Manu Weds Tanu' was an appropriate title, but Kangana who plays Tanu in the film, insisted that the title should be 'Tanu Weds Manu' and not 'Manu Weds Tanu' because the narrative unfolds from Tanu's point of view, said a source.

The director was taken aback, but Kangana explained her point saying Tanu, a small town, wild girl, is the one in the commanding position compared to Madhavan's character Manu who is shown as a simple NRI guy in the comedy.

When the director spoke to Madhavan, thinking he would get upset, the actor saw the point immediately and readily agreed with Kangana.

"It's true that the film was earlier titled 'Manu Weds Tanu'. However, we felt that 'Tanu Weds Manu' was a more suitable title, according to the demands of the script. So we decided to go with 'Tanu Weds Manu'," said Rai.

The film will release Feb 25.

Though Madhavan has done relatively serious films like 'Teen Patti' and '13 B' in the recent past other than a dramatic 'Three Idiots', it is after ages that he is being seen in a romantic comedy - 'Tanu Weds Manu'.

"No, 'Tanu Weds Manu' is very different," said Maddy (as he is fondly called), "The film may be about a romance blooming in a small town but contrary to popular perception, these are people who are quite modern even though their values are pretty much intact."

'Tanu Weds Manu' required the cast and crew of the film to travel extensively right through the Northern part of India.

"It was one journey of my life," smiles Maddy who had a similar travelling experience in 'Three Idiots' as well, "We shot at places like Indore, Lucknow and Kapurthala. It was a very realistic set up. Having said that it was a lot of fun as well, something that I was longing for."

One hopes to have some fun as well when this Aanand L Rai directed film featuring Kangna as Tanu releases all over on 25th February.

Who Wants To Marry Kangana?

Just like it's funny first look poster, Tanu Weds Manu has a fun promotional activity going on. Although the film will release on Feb 25th, but the promotional campaign as already begun. Taking a leaf from the film an awareness building campaign was arranged, where anxious parents of Tanu and Manu went to major multiplexes across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kanpur, Jaipur, Pune and Chandigarh looking out for a the perfect groom and bride for their son/daughter. They handed out postcards with Kangana (Tanu) and Madhavan (Manu's) pics on it with their bio-data on it.

Kangana's postcard is one of the funniest and creative things I have read this week...you would burst into laughter if you have some sense of humor in you. The main cast includes Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut and Jimmy Shergill.

Tanu Weds Manu - First Look

Now that is one interesting poster that I have seen in many days, for Tanu Weds Manu. Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut play the lead roles while actors such as Jimmy Shergill and a few others.

This film will be released on Feb 25th and one should be ready for some good dose of laughter and fun.

I really like this poster...different and so much fun. Madhavan's smile and Kangana's attitude...and the tagline "Celebrate A Perfect Mismatch" is quite catchy.
